Description
Melons of the Galia or Cantalupo varieties, grown organically, following regenerative farming practices, in Joaquín and Maricruz’s fields.
The cantaloupe melon variety stands out for its spherical shape with small size, between 0.7 and 1.5kg, and the color of the skin between greenish-yellow and gray-green. But if there is something really significant in its interior, it is the orange color of its flesh. When this melon is ripe, it releases a marked floral scent that goes very well with its great sweetness.
The Galia melon is one of the varieties with the smallest fruits, due to its size, and weights that do not usually exceed 1 kg. The skin is slightly rough, greenish-yellow, and somewhat roughened. The flesh is bright yellow-greenish in color. It has a very sweet and pronounced flavor.
Melon helps to purify the body and strengthen the kidneys, among other things because of its diuretic and somewhat laxative properties. Contributes to neutralize acidity in the stomach reducing the appearance of stomach ulcers. It benefits the strengthening of the immune system, the reduction of the consequences of cholesterol and the prevention of heart disease.
Maricruz and Joaquín practice regenerative agriculture. This means that they are concerned not only with the sustainable cultivation of high quality organic products, but also with the care of the countryside. For example, they protect the vegetation cover of the soil, which they fertilise with dried organic manure. They also allow indigenous grazing and manage irrigation with water that comes down from the Sierra de Baza through natural irrigation channels.
